This week Fay gave a presentation in assembly about the problems plastic is causing in our oceans.
This is her summary of the main points covered:
Hello! My name is Fay and I am passionate about saving marine life from the plastic tide. It’s equivalent to five grocery bags filled with plastic for every foot of coastline in the world. Each day a marine life is effected e.g. a turtle is dying because they think a plastic bag is a jelly fish. Whales, and other marine life, have been washing ashore for decades with stomachs full of plastic; a whale was found in southern Spain dead, killed by damage to the stomach from plastic waste. Now, what can we do to change it? Stop using plastic straws and start using reusable alternatives. Fay (Y6)
